Loneliness and aloneness are often talked about in terms of our relationships (or lack of) with other people, but the human condition of solitude is inescapable for everyone, whether one is a loner or the life of the party. There are some experiences so inherently private and incommunicable that not even our closest family members and friends will fully understand. Just like death, loneliness is an unavoidable part of life, much maligned, misunderstood, and feared.
